LABOUR MARKET INTERVENTIONS

To better match labour supply and demand, the project supports the implementation of improved labour market policies and labour market services. This includes support to the implementation of the National Skills Development and Employment Promotion Strategy. Specifically, Eco-Emploi supports the further development of the Labour Market Information System (LMIS) and the upgrading of the jobportal for the Rwandan labour marked – the KORA Jobportal. The Kora Jobportal is a matching platform established by the Rwanda Development Board with the aim of linking jobseekers with potential employers.

Some interventions

Public Employment Service Centres

The Public Employment Service Centres (PESC) in Kigali, Musanze and Huye aim at connecting job seekers and employers. They offer information on the labour market and provide career guidance. Jobseekers receive training and qualification opportunities and coaching on application processes. Eco-Emploi supports the development and implementation of mobile employment services by using buses that can reach jobseekers who live far from the existing centres. Moreover, the project supports the development of a sustainable governance and management model for PESCs.

National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda

Eco-Emploi supports the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) in conducting the quarterly Labour Force Survey (LFS) and in establishing a training centre for statistics. The main objective of the training centre is to offer capacity building programmes and provide technical skills training to members of the National Statistical System to produce, analyse and use official statistics in policy formulation, decision making and planning processes.
