The programme is part of the priority area “Sustainable Economic Development” of the Rwandan-German Development Cooperation.
Our objective is to sustainably increase the employment of a skilled workforce.
In order to make significant contributions to the overall goal, the programme embodies an integrated approach of technical and vocational education and training, labour market interventions and private sector development. It supports the following economic sectors through joint activities with public and private actors:
- Wood economy,
- Tourism and
- Creative industries [above all audio-visual business].
We provide advice to the government, as well as to public and private actors operating in the areas of economic and employment promotion and vocational training.
To achieve the best outcomes, we support the capacity development throughout our three working areas.
Examples for capacity development are Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions in the field of TVET and Skills Development, training programmes for businesses in the field of Private Sector Development or trainings for teachers in providing career guidance to their students offered by the Kigali Employment Service Centre in cooperation with GIZ.
Important objectives across all our working areas are:
- Ensuring the greater participation of women in the economy
- Integrating people with disabilities into the labour market
- Establishing environmentally sound business practices
